She was predeceased by: her parents, Robert Groenleer and Alice Louise Groenleer (McKinney); her husband William "Bill" Frederick Wales, Jr.; her son William "Billy" Frederick Wales, III; and her brother Robert Bruce Groenleer, Jr..

She is survived by: her daughter Amy Louise Wales of Grand Rapids; her sister Joy Fent (Sam) of Ann Arbor; her siblings-in-law, Wilma Groenleer of Holt and Richard Wales (Debbie) of Quinnesec; her niece Kathleen Malda (Rob) of Ann Arbor; her nephews, Marc Groenleer (Deborah) of Grand Rapids and Eames Groenleer (Jody) of Mason; and her grandchildren, Ashley Ecker (Matt) of Lakeview, Jon Newland (Lindsey) of Lakeview, Jessica Netterlund of Stanton and Katie O'Conner (Michael) of Charlotte. She is also survived by numerous great-nieces and great-nephews, great-grandchildren, and "adopted" grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
