He was predeceased by: his parents, John C. and Virginia R. Phillips, Sr. (Miller); his son William S. Phillips; and his siblings, William Phillips and Janet Burman.

He is survived by: his wife Dorothy Phillips of Lake; his sons, Keith J. Phillips of Mesa, AZ. and Kenneth J. Phillips (Eileen) of Livingston, MT.; his grandchildren, Amanda, Amber (Greg), Shelby, Allison, Michael (Amanda) and Kelley; his stepgrandchildren, Allison and Anthony; and his great grandchildren, Finn, Zaydon and Jacob.

Memorial contributions in honor of John may be directed to the St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
