He was predeceased by: his parents, Genevee Shoemaker and Clyde Shoemaker; his siblings, Clyde Jr. Shoemaker (Doreen), Thelma Shoemaker, Phyllis Jackson (Marion) and Jackie Young (Rodney); his parents-in-law, Fred and Belva Harner; and his siblings-in-law, Ray Harner (Mary Jane), Brooks Harner and Anabel Harner.
He is survived by: his wife Jane Harner; his children, Ron Shoemaker (Rose), Randy Shoemaker (Mari), Kim Thigpen (Allen) and Susan Strickland (Kahle); his grandchildren, Ryan Shoemaker (Michelle), Nicolas Shoemaker (Cate), Andrea Young (Jordan), Jacob, Josh, Jeffrey Thigpen, Natalie Kempf, Matt Kempf (Sydney), Lucas Shoemaker and Cole Shoemaker; his stepgranddaughters, Meagan, Ally and Caity Strickland; and his great grandchildren, Helena Shoemaker (Nicolas) and Lucas Shoemaker (Ryan). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Congregation Church in Lake Odessa and Alta Frost Scholarship Fund, VFW Post 4461.
