He was predeceased by: his wife Garthea; his daughter Judi Carrico; his siblings, Perlin Schut (Agnes) and Gladys Ripley (Bryce); and his siblings-in-law, Donna, Jerry Honderd, Lambert Jager and Roger Schrotenboer (Donna).

He is survived by: his children, Jim, Maribeth Schut, Lori and Mike Boven; his grandchildren, Michelle, Phillip Hamberg, Sherri, Mike Phillips, Jolene Schut, Renae, Jason Riddering, Wyatt Carrico, Cam, Katelyn Boven, Emily and John VanderBand; his siblings, Louis (Carla Schut) and Violet (Ron Gort); and his siblings-in-law, Beverly DeVries, Yvonne Reiffer, Rich, Lin Schrotenboer, Ron and Joan Schrotenboer. He is also survived by ten great-grandchildren.
