He was predeceased by: his father John Postma; his son David Postma (Janet); his siblings, Ethel Wagner (August), Johanna VanSloten (Floyd), Paul Postma, John Postma and Howard Postma (Adele); and his siblings-in-law, Fritz Postma, Lucille Herrema, Harv Herrema (Margaret), Rich Herrema (Tress), Mart Geelhoed, Don Kramer and Linda Herrema.

He is survived by: his wife Ruth Herrema; his children, Roger Postma (Sharon) and Janice Postma; his grandchildren, Christine Postma, Jeffrey Postma (Shani Feyen), Stacy Stanley (Steve VanVuuren) and Darlene Postma; his siblings, Stella Postma, Sherm Postma (Angie), Bill Postma (Coralyn) and Phil Postma (Sara); and his siblings-in-law, Carol Koetje (Jim), Bea Geelhoed, Mae Kramer, Jun Herrema (Carrie), Nels Herrema (Jean) and Arch Herrema. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, and life-long friends.
