He was predeceased by: his wife Roberta "Bea" Ranta; his parents, Jennie Ranta and Alfred Ranta; and his siblings, Arthur (Liz), Wesley Ranta (Vivian), Pat Ranta and Marie Gurske (Gordon).
He is survived by: his children, Joseph Ranta (Adriana) of Mason, Michigan and Amy Ranta (Mike Melendrez) of West Chester, Ohio; his grandchildren, Connor and Chloey; and his sisters, Kathy Maki (Marvin) of Ironwood and Margo Rantanen (Ronald) of Ishpeming, Michigan. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions are preferred to Hope Animal Shelter.
