He was predeceased by: his parents, Louis Schaut and Edna Schaut (Niquette); his siblings, Karen Schaut, Billy Schaut, Caroline "Jane" Schaut, Daniel Schaut, Thomas Schaut, Richard Schaut and Philip Schaut; and his parents-in-law, Chuck McMartin, Barbara Schaut, Dottie Schaut and Charles Snyder.
He is survived by: his close friend Barbara Romo; his wife Barbara Romo Schaut; his children, Aaron Schaut (Michele Marie) of Grand Rapids, Jesse Schaut of Grand Rapids and Carolyn VandenBerg (Jeff) of Grand Rapids; his granddaughter Maxine; his siblings, Patricia McMartin of Essexville, Leo Schaut (Patti) of Grand Rapids, Oakman John Schaut of Kent, Mary Snyder of Escanaba, Joy Ott (Mike) of Escanaba and Dorothy Martin of Katy, Texas; and his mothers-in-law, Marina Schaut and Ellen Schaut. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
