He was predeceased by: his parents, Melvin Frei and Margaret Frei (Kobeal); his wife Along; his siblings, Lynn Kohl, Sally Vickroy and Phillip Frei; and his grandson Ryan Rice.
He is survived by: his daughters, Debbie Lindholm (Scott) of Lake Orion, MI, Tammy VanVreede (Bill) of Traverse City, MI, Tina Rice (Terry) of Breitung Township, Becky Messer (Mike) of Green Bay, WI and Patti Bronzyk (Joe) of Breitung Township; his sister Lori Evans (Dee) of Berlin, WI; his grandchildren, Nicole Mead (Brook), Jamie Johnson (Rob), Jessica Marsh (Dave), Michael VanVreede (Jahaila), Dr. Tony VanVreede (Tiffany), Billy VanVreede (Briana), Katelyn Shaffran (Nick), Dexter Ali (Melissa), Bob Rice, Jim Rice, Kyle Messer (Casey), Maria Zimmerman (Zach), Thomas Whaley, Paige Whaley (Bryce Babiash), Alexa Bronzyk and Dane Bronzyk; his great grandchildren, Lleyton, Colette Mead, Charlee Johnson, Isla VanVreede, Nicholas, Ethan, Brendan VanVreede, Zoe, Skye VanVreede, Avery, Brantley Marsh and Zarina Ali; and his close friend Russ Pietschmann. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
