He was predeceased by: his parents, Wilvy LaPlaunt and Grace LaPlaunt (Fischer); his wife Patricia "Patsy" Harrison; his siblings, Eugene LaPlaunt, Grace MacArthur, Wilma Mcvarish, Laura Wood, Bernard LaPlaunt and Lauren LaPlaunt; and his stepdaughter Kathy Leask.

He is survived by: his sons, Jeffrey LaPlaunt (Tracy) and Michael LaPlaunt; his stepsons, Thomas Leask and Daniel Leask; and his sister Myrna Wilson.
