He was predeceased by: his parents, George Doest and Dorothy Ter Doest (Heckman); and his brother James Ter Doest. He is survived by: his sons, Michael Ter Doest (Christina) of Lake Worth, FL and Tim Ter Doest (Belinda Lolley) of Adrian; his brother Robert Ter Doest (Sharon) of Perrysburg, OH; his grandchildren, Christopher Ter Doest (Kara), Brian Ter Doest, Andrew Ter Doest and Raquel Bork (David); his great grandchildren, Riley, Mason, David Jr. and Roman; and his wife Wanda.

Memorial contributions can be made in Richard's name to St. Mary on the Lake Catholic Church or Hospice of Lenawee.
