He was predeceased by: his parents, Wilburn C. Davenport and Pattie Nell Poole Davenport; his daughter Angela; and his siblings, King Saleem, Pete, Mildred, Carolyn and Velma Ann.

He is survived by: his wife Annie Lois Busbee; his children, Wilma Davenport Abney (Michael), Morris Davenport (Kathleen), Pattie Gregory, Rhonda Davenport Johnson (E. Christopher), Beverly Davenport, Rufus Davenport, Jr. (Maria) and Jason Davenport (Maria); his siblings, Roby Davenport, Rosie Redrick and Judy Nixon; and his grandchildren, Tarik J. Scott, Danielle Gregory-Freeman, Erin Johnson Bevel, Chip Johnson, Jorin D. Scott, David R. Gregory, Kali M. Bailey, Justin Abney, Marcus F. Gregory, J. Cameron Davenport Bogle, Caroline Davenport Melnick, Meredith Davenport, Aaron Abney, Rufus Davenport III (Tre), Anna Davenport, Matthew Davenport and Eliza Davenport. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and friends.

“Though we only met Rufus on three occasions, we admired his character. After meeting him, his wife Annie, and the Davenport Family, it was apparent the patriarch was a devoted and hard-working man, one of faith who encouraged higher education and athletic skills. His first grandchild, Tarik Joseph, married our beloved niece, Jennifer. When they would leave Grandpa & Grandma’s farm after a weekend, they would return home with meat for the freezer and tales of fishing...loving memories.”
