He was predeceased by: his parents, Ira Erastus Root and Christine Grace Root (Mitchell); and his siblings, Irene Vlier, Stan Root and Fay Ann Root.
He is survived by: his wife Patty Ann Cox of Harrison; his daughter Deatta Ruth Root-Pyle of Harrison; his grandsons, Adam Charles Shipman of Harrison and Mason Chancy Root-Pyle of Harrison; and his great grandchild Raelynn Kay Shipman of Harrison. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and extended family.
