He was predeceased by: his parents, Jack Vrieland and Natalie Vrieland; his siblings, Bruce Vrieland and Carolyn Slager (Vrieland); his former wife Nancy Vrieland; and his daughter Amy Berkompas (Vrieland).
He is survived by: his wife Loretta Vrieland (Visser); his brother G. Edwin Vrieland (Ellie); his sister-in-law Sharon Vrieland; his children, Rev. Douglas (Robin Vrieland), Jayne (Roger Boer), Wayne Berkompas, Tim (Jane Vrieland) and Heidi (Terry Baartman); and his stepchildren, James Visser, Jon and Lindsay Visser. He is also survived by 20 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
