She was predeceased by: her husband Neal Smith; and her son John Smith. She is survived by: her children, Laurel Wiersma (Jim) and Don Smith (Donna). She is also survived by eight grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

In lieu of flowers and in honor of Virginia, contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association.
