She was predeceased by: her parents, Andrew Belan and Mary Belan (Svelka); her husband Art "Dutch"; her granddaughter Sandy Heyl; and her brothers, Bozenka "Bessie" Cerny (Ruth Marquand), Steven Belan and David Belan.
She is survived by: her children, Diane VanderVen Arends, Ruth Shafer (Larry), Robin VanderVen Meade and Gregg VanderVen; her grandchildren, Elizabeth Gonzalez (Eric), John Arends (Ann), Will Collins, Andrew Lautzenheiser (Becca), Johanna VanderVen (Bryan Alvarez), Juli VanderVen and Nathan Meade (Aubrey); her great grandchildren, Aurelia, Crista, Ethan and Jakin Gonzalez; and her grandchildren, Aria, Jianna Arends and Alfred Lautzenheiser. She is also survived by many nephews, nieces and cousins.
A funeral service was held on Saturday, February 15th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Hope Lutheran Church (100 Packard Ave SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49503).
