He was predeceased by: his parents, Homer Fairbanks and Bessie Fairbanks (VanderGriff); his grandson Samuel David Swords; and his siblings, Gary and Gloria.
He is survived by: his wife Sandi; his children, Shannon Johnson (Russ), Kimberly Vaandering (Danny), Travis Fairbanks (Lyndie), Miranda Vires (Jason), Meghan McDaniels (Foster), Jamie Fairbanks (DJ) and Justin Fairbanks; his stepchildren, Melissa Hoodhood and Joel Wiard (Renee); and his former wife Lou Ann Fairbanks. He is also survived by twenty-nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
