He was predeceased by: his parents, Chet Slater Sr. and Shirley Laurin (Steinkraus); his stepdaughters, Lisa Church and Jessica Barber; and his brother-in-law Bill Erickson.
He is survived by: his wife Gloria Slater; his children, Tony Slater, Scott Slater, Tom Slater, Jeniffer Matthews (Scott) and Nick Slater; his stepchildren, Justin Russell (Heidi) and Amanda Russell; his grandchildren, Ashely Slater, Jake Slater, Sydney Slater (Brandon Lindsley), Isaac Slater (Nicholas McCoy), Jackson Slater, Mariah Slater (Kolt), McKenna Freeman (Brendon), Nick Phillips, Lexie Slater, Scott Slater, Tommy Buffum and Ethan Russell; and his sister Cindy Erickson. He is also survived by eight great-grandchildren.
