He was predeceased by: his parents, Gabriel Pena and Martina Muniz; and his siblings, Victoria Medrano, Janie Ochoa and Julio Sarabia.

He is survived by: his children, Luis Pena (Eloisa), Mary Lugo (Porfirio), Olga Gomez (Anibal), Maggie Martinez (Juan) and Martina Soriano (Pilar); and his siblings, Pedro Pena, Gabriel Pena, Bertha Pena and Virginia Alaniz. He is also survived by fifteen grandchildren and twenty-one great-grandchildren.
