She was predeceased by: her parents, John O'Brien, and Virginia O'Brien, Sr. (Bishop); her husband Ivan Dempsey; and her brothers, William and Jack O'Brien.

She is survived by: her children, Mark Dempsey (Kathleen), Scott Dempsey and Kristyn Smith (Todd); her grandchildren, Sean Dempsey, Dana Dempsey (Peter), Bradley (Ellie Smith) and Miranda (Brendan Smoluk); her great grandchildren, Liam, Sterling, Grayson and Miller; and her siblings, Robert O'Brien and Judy Jubak.
