He was predeceased by: his parents, Francis Esch and Lorraine Esch (Cook); his wife Jacalyn Esch (Cochran); his daughter Amy Esch; and his nephew Gerrit Esch.

He is survived by: his sons, Scott Esch (Jeanne) and Bill Esch (Vickie); his grandchildren, Rachael Hinds, Ashleigh Esch, Kyle Hinds, Dillon Esch, Amy Jo Esch and Brady Esch; and his siblings, Theresa Shivley (Ed), Linda Russell (Russ), Kathleen Leitz (Thomas), Karen Eavey (Scott), John Esch (Leah) and Mark Esch (Elizabeth).
