Scott Athey Obituary

With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Scott Athey of Decatur, Michigan, born in Dowagiac, Michigan, who passed away on September 1, 2022 at the age of 69. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his father Robert B. Athey; and his father-in-law Frank Kraak. He is survived by: his mother Bette Athey (Wylie); his wife Cindy Athey; his children, Wade Athey (Jean), Brant Athey (Chrissy), John Burns and Hunter Bell; his grandchildren, Augustus Athey (Gus), Violet Athey, Kaley and Ryan Athey; his stepgrandchildren, Brooklyn, Callie, Jaxon VanTilburg and Namesake Scottie Lynn Bell; his siblings, Shirley Lawrence (Keith), Duane Athey (Kathy), Karen Whiting (Tom), Doug Athey (Sandy) and Jayne Karasch (Norman); his mother-in-law Beuna Mae Kraak; his brother Steve Kraak; and his sister-in-law Janice Groendyk (Steve). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
