She was predeceased by: her parents, John Herron and Pauline Herron (Sutton); her husband Gary E. Van Valkenburg; her sons, Gary and John Van Valkenburg; and her brother John Herron (Sonny).

She is survived by: her sister Barb Herron; and her children, Paula Wellman (Paul), Susan Potter (Mark), Denise Roels (Rick), Scott Van Valkenburg (Ellie), Todd Van Valkenburg (Kelly) and Chris Van Valkenburg (Stacey). She is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
