He was predeceased by: his parents, John Whyte and Mary Whyte (Tagert); and his sisters, Maureen and Margarette. He is survived by: his wife Elizabeth Whyte; his children, John Whyte (Debbie), Richard Whyte, Archie Whyte (Vickie) and Christina Chaney (Jason); his grandson Zachary Whyte (Sandra); and his siblings, Jim Whyte (Becky), Jean Simpson (Jim), Edith Scott, Danny Whyte (June), Robert Whyte (Singa), Fran Strauss (Bob) and Rebecca Tatro. He is also survived by Several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
