He was predeceased by: his parents, Anne Van Dyk and Joseph Maltby; his wife Joyce Cridler; his grandson Jesse; his daughter Cynthia; and his great grandchild Cristobal Weimer.

He is survived by: his daughters, Susan Yates of Williamstown, MA, Judith Yates and Kathryn Cizek (Thomas) of Traverse City; and his grandchildren, Chris (Gina Dominguez) of Austin, TX, David (Molly Schranz) of Boston, MA, Libbie Weimer of Durham, NC, Andrew Williams (Nisa) of Seattle, Colin Williams of Traverse City, Cameron Williams of Seattle, Laura Gorman (Michael) of Grand Forks, ND and Donovan Cizek of Auburn Hills.

“We have known Rod (and Joyce) for over 20 years. We camped with them on several trips to Michigan, at Royal Coachman Resort in Florida and enjoyed their company over many a card game. Rod was instrumental in getting me riding with the RCR Peddlers bike group. They took my wife and I in as if we were family. We so enjoyed going with them to their cabin on Gunn Lake.
