He was predeceased by: his parents, Bernard Ommen (Ben) and Esther Ommen (Sommers); his wife Audrey Mae Lightner; his sisters, Bessie LaCross (Norman) and Laurene Stine (Tyrus); and his brother-in-law Jim Samann.

He is survived by: his children, Karen Newman (Steve) and Scott Ommen (Cathy); his grandchildren, Alaina Graham (Trent), Brielle Ommen, Kaitlin Haan (Dylan) and Kelsie Newman (Tyler Thering); his great grandchildren, Eva Graham, Rylie Graham and Audrey Haan; his sister Ann Samann; and his pet Lexie. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
