He was predeceased by: his parents, Otto Bender and Frances Bender; and his brother David Bender. He is survived by: his wife Roberta Lee Cross of Caro; his children, John Bender II of Caro, Christine (Antonio Solis), Robert Bender of Caro and Virginia (Paul Perria); his sister Loraine (Larry Warner) of Owosso; and his sister-in-law Cecelia Bender of Caro.
