He was predeceased by: his son Steven Russell; his father Pop'; and his grandfather Russ'. He is survived by: his wife Norma; his children, Scott VanderWerp (Sharon), Sheri McCarthy (Kevin) and Sally Bennett (Tim); his siblings, Stu VanderWerp (Jan), Jerry Prins, Helen Daining and Marge Yonker (Ed); and his grandchildren, Stacey (Jeremy Johnston), Stephanie (Josh Behm), Steven (Erin VanderWerp), Drew McCarthy, Caitlin (Wil Malski), Colin McCarthy, Devin McCarthy and Brendan McCarthy. He is also survived by great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, and special friends.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Humane Society of West Michigan or to the Mission Outreach Fund at Cornerstone United Methodist Church.
