He was predeceased by: his parents, Howard Hostetler and Thelma Hostetler (Singleton); his siblings, John, Lonnie, Clifford and Louetta; and the mother of his children Patricia Martin.

He is survived by: his children, Cathy Ganus (Timothy), Stephenie Bogart, Lewis Hostetler, Jr. (Bethany), Joseph Hostetler (Jessi Gawlik) and Donald Benfield (Judy); his grandchildren, Matthew Ganus (Kaylee), Tyler Ganus (Abigail), Benjamin Ganus (Candyce Peppers), Timothy Bogart (Rebekah), Zackery Bogart (Haily Shibinski), Hope Canniff, Sean Canniff, Cody Hostetler, Cheyanne Hostetler, Jessie Benfield-Boik (Jeremiah) and JoAnn Benfield (Andrew Daly); his great grandchildren, Rhett, Rowan, Aria, Jakson Ganus, Venessa, Timothy Bogart, Kiana and Ty Benfield-Boik; and his sisters, Lois Lovitt (Jack) and Linda Perry.
