He was predeceased by: his parents, Margie Cornwell and Clarence Cornwell; his stepfather Guy "Pappy" Welch; and his brother Archie. He is survived by: his wife Elizabeth "Betty" Cornwell (Kline); and his sons, Mark (Marge), Tim (Karen), Todd and Chad (Renee). He is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

He continued working until just shy of his 90th birthday when the pandemic brought his career to an end.
