It is with great sadness that we announce the death of James Clay (Brighton, Michigan), born in Greenville, South Carolina, who passed away on July 30, 2021, at the age of 73, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, James Glen and Velma Clay (Williams); his son James Daniel Clay; and his brothers, Robert Clay and Ronald "Joe" Clay.

He is survived by: his wife Mary Clay; his daughter Teresa Smalley; his siblings, Roger Clay (Marie) and Pam Rude (Roger); his grandchildren, Michael Smalley (Denys) and Madison Rose Clay; and his great grandchildren, Daevin James Smalley, Michael Matthew Smalley and Piarra Whelan.

Memorial contributions may be given to family for future designation.
