He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Agnes Mahoney and Daniel Edward Mahoney; his wife Carol; his children, Thomas J. (Caroline), Pamela Tsigdinos (Alexander), Barbara and Susan; his grandchildren, Madeline and Trevor; and his brothers, Gerald and Philip. He was also cherished by numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Thomas's memory may be made to the University of Detroit-Mercy or the Wounded Warriors.
