It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Ruth Esther Woods of Berrien Springs, Michigan, who passed away on November 9, 2020, at the age of 92, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Marvel Thomas and Lucinda Squires Kinsey; and her stepdaughters, Sally Carr (Michael) and Lydia Diana Jones. She is survived by: her sister Ernestine Purnell of Greensboro, NC; her sister-in-law Irene Kinsey of Virginia; her nieces and nephews, Reginald Kinsey (Beverly), Allen Michael Kinsey (Deborah) of Greensboro, Robert Earl Kinsey of Virginia, Kalungi Askia of Massachusetts, Iris Moore (Larry) of Greensboro, Barbara Smith (Lloyd) of Virginia, Sabreen Askia, Carolyn Ruth Kinsey and Ayanna Kinsey of Massachusetts; her daughters, Cindy and Natalie; her stepchildren, Nathaniel Jr. (Juanita) of Coloma, MI, Jerry Lee (Cora) of South Bend, IN, Frederick A. (Coralynn) of Anderson, AL, Delores Jones of Granville, MO and Cheryl Lisa Phillips of Benton Harbor; her sister Amanda; her children, Alta Carpenter, Lydia Thomas, Toni Doswell, Janice Oryem, Jessie Lewis, Nancy Lee, Beverly Tremal, Karma of Washington, Tomeka Leslie and Edward Oryem; and her grandsons, David Ryan Drake and James Michael Alan Drake.
She made sure that her children received a good foundation in Christian education.
