He was predeceased by: his parents, Melton Burton and Blanie Burton (Rush); and his siblings, Eli, Lady B, Ida Mae, Eddie, Willie, Luther, Aurelia, James and Grady.
He is survived by: his children, Bishop Melvin Burton (Vivian), Carolyn Fort (Norris), Terri Mays (Willie), Sondra Woods (Vincent), Maurice Burton (Jolita), Maverick Burton and Starr Ridley (Pernell); and his sister Mabelle Kilpatrick. He is also survived by seventeen grandchildren; twenty-seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.
