She was predeceased by: her former husbands, James McDowell and Kenneth Empey; her sisters, Marian Telgenhoff and Eileen Sage; her nephew Gerald "Skip" Telgenhoff; her niece Ruth Sage; and her great-niece Amanda St.
She is survived by: her parents, Prescott Johnston and Anna Johnston (Frank); her children, James McDowell of Central Lake, Deborah McDowell of Charlevoix and Kelly Youmans of Central Lake; and her stepchildren, Lorraine Stebe (Jerry) of Grand Rapids and Kenneth Empey (Carol) of Dexter, MI. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren.
