With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Charles Wayne Pietila of Baraga, Michigan, born in Hancock, Michigan, who passed away on November 29, 2022 at the age of 85. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his wife Iris Pietila; his parent Ruth Pietila; his stepfather Evert Moilanen; his siblings-in-law, Edwin and Violet Tossava; his half-brothers, Donald Karppinen, Ronald Karppinen and Paul Karppinen; and his uncle Matt Pietila.
He is survived by: his aunt Marie Pietila; his children, Wanda Juntunen (Glenn) of Baraga, Thomas Pietila of Alston, Timothy Pietila of Ontonagon, Charles Pietila Jr. (Betsy Leinonen) of Zeba, Jason Pietila (Christy) of San Diego, CA and Laurie Zuidmulder (Tim) of Champlain Park, MN; his grandchildren, ArJay Juntunen (Julia), Dustin Juntunen (Jen), Corey Pietila (D. J.), Anna Pietila (Jeff), Breana Cornell (Dominic), Olivia Pietila, Dawson Pietila, Millie Pietila, Mark Zuidmulder, Christopher Zuidmulder and Robert Zuidmulder; his sisters, Betty Ruitta of Hancock and Martha Sharlein (Kenny) of Carney, MI; his half-sisters, Lorraine Tomasi (Paul) and Karen Karppeinen; his siblings-in-law, Fran Tossava (Barbara), Phyllis Miron (Greg), Brenda Carroll (Pat) and Fern Michaels (Tim); and his caregiver Judy Beier of L'Anse. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews, and life long wonderful friends.
