He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Kasper, Jr. Smidt and Anna Smidt (Duitscher); his wife Waltraud "Susy" Schisnowski; his children, Diane Reinhardt (Wilfred), Ronald Smidt (Constance), Debra Wanders (Steven) and Dana Cook (Peter); his grandchildren, Nicholas, Keehan, Ronald, Jr., Kasper IV, Michelle, Steven, Joseph "Michael", Stacy, Sammy, Zachary, Kendra, Caleb and Rachel; and his brothers, Glen Smidt and William Smidt (Gail). He was also cherished by his children, grandchildren, and later great-grandchildren.
