He was predeceased by: his parents, James Mitchell and Nanabell Mitchell; his daughter Carol Ann Mitchell; and his sister Evelyn Sullivan. He is survived by: his wife Mary Lou Mitchell; his son James R. Mitchell; his granddaughters, Jennifer Domulot and Mary-Carol Jackson; his sister Nancy Cochrum; and his nephew Glenn Smith.
