She was predeceased by: her parents, Frank Straka and Edythe Straka (Johnson); and her sisters, Margaret Padgett (William) and Rosellen Lindblade (Roger). She is survived by: her sister Frances Oltman (Marlo) of McPherson, Kansas; her stepson Todd Ross (Laura); her grandson Duncan Thomas Ross of Haslett; and also Rosina Bierbaum of Ann Arbor. She is also survived by friends, neighbors, nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Humane Society of Huron Valley in Marlene's memory.
