He was predeceased by: his parents, Carl Heyer and Florence Heyer (Kapp); and his siblings, Joyce Rydecki and Gerald. He is survived by: his wife Gerda (Gauss); his sons, Philip (Kim) and Kurt; his grandsons, Joshua (Katie) and Andrew (Sarah); his great grandchildren, Abram, Brooklyn, Nora and Benjamin; and his brother Arnold (JoAnn). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
