He was predeceased by: his parents, Ralph Champion and Mable Champion (Woodard); and his sister Thelma Schobert. He is survived by: his wife Darlene Champion; his children, Jeffery Champion and Lorraine Champion; his brothers, Glenn Champion (Donna) and Randy Champion; his brother-in-law Bill Schobert; and also, Beth, Lamar Ballinger and Ed Champion.
