He was predeceased by: his parents, Gerrit and Florence Joostberns, Sr. (Jaarda); his wife Caroline Marie Joostberns (Ellis); his granddaughters, Chloe and Lilly Pountain; and his siblings, Tom Joostberns, Paul Joostberns, Shirley Kaylor, Donna Kaylor, Pearl Hunsburger and Char Eberhard.

He is survived by: his children, Denelle Ellis (Bob), Teresa Pountain, Lauri Joostberns and Gerrit Joostberns III; and his brother Ed Joostberns (Mary).
