She was predeceased by: her parents, Verda Griffin (Hoyt) and Daniel M. Griffin; her husband Edwin Cates; her siblings, Daniel and Pauline G. Seeds; her nephews, Larry and Lee Haynes; and her stepson-in-law Thomas Richardson.
She is survived by: her nephew Leslie Haynes; her stepdaughter Joyce Richardson (William Wadsworth); her grandchildren, Scott Richardson (Mary), Janet Richardson Lewis (Jeff), Shelby Richardson Leighton (Eric), Tracey Haynes Parker and Gordon Haynes; and her great grandchildren, Andrew, Adam Richardson, Darien, Tucker Lewis, Julia and Cooper Leighton.
