He is survived by: his wife Joan Van Steenbergh; his son Joseph M. Carroll of Kennebunk; his grandchildren, Timothy Chard, Grace Chard and Madelyne Cummings; and his siblings, James H. Carroll, Margaret Spadaccini (Carroll) and Alice M. Haran (Kevin Haran). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and many dear friends.
