He was predeceased by: his parents, Guy B. Benner and Ruth M. Benner (Winslow); his sons-in-law, Leslie "Sonny" Staley and Carl Mason; his grandson Paul Mason; and his siblings, Clarissa Keene, Ruth Brewer and William Benner.
He is survived by: his wife Beth Benner of Jefferson; his children, Deborah Staley of Waldoboro, Marie Benner of Bangor, Brenda J. Mason of Levant, Cindy Leeman of Gardiner, Sheila Henderson (Bruce) of Stetson, Donald D. Benner (Deborah) of Warren and Kendall Benner (Beth Anne) of Round Hill, VA; his brother Arthur W. Benner (Virginia) of Caribou; and his nephew David Benner (Diane). He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
