He was predeceased by: his parents, Alfred Hopkins and Dorothy Hopkins (Melvin); his wife Beth Dodge; and his son Rick. He is survived by: his children, Missy Hopkins of Belfast and Mike Hopkins of Southwest Harbor; his siblings, Ellen Cummings of Massachusetts and Steve [Donna] Hopkins (Scott [Sarah] Hopkins) of Belmont; his grandchildren, Kassidy Turner of Maryland, Reagan, Kolby Turner of Virginia, Aaliyah Hopkins of Windsor and Kassandra Hopkins of Augusta; his great grandchildren, Aubree and Seneca Van Tassel of Maryland; and also, Jake Boyle, David Watt, Rick Pomeroy and Andrea Hopkins.
