He was predeceased by: his parents, Evelyn Marie Nelson (Reaver) and Francis Burgess Nelson; and his brothers, John and Donald Nelson. He is survived by: his children, Michael Nelson (Donna), Bruce Nelson (Cynthia) and Amy Nelson Goodell (Gregory); his grandchildren, Jason Nelson, Jared Nelson, Ben Nelson, Kenny Nelson and Vivian Goodell; and his great grandchildren, Ryan, Caleb, Brooks, Natalie and Max.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Deer Park Lions Club.
