It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Joseph Filmore Wantz of Westminster, Maryland, born in Baltimore, Maryland, who passed away on September 30, 2024, at the age of 98, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Noah Wantz and Ruth Wantz (Bowers); his wife Mary Grace Wantz (Shaffer); and his siblings, Norman, Roy, Wayne, Glen Wantz, Catharine Wantz, Viola Wentz and Pauline Utz.
He is survived by: his children, Daniel Wantz (Cynthia) of Taneytown, Shirley Metcalf (Jasper) of North Ft, Marilyn Baumgartner of Littlestown, PA and Kenneth Wantz (Beth) of Chesapeake, VA; and his siblings, Roger Wantz, Alice Fritz and Nancy Miller. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the Westminster First Church of the Nazarene.
