He was predeceased by: his parents, Elmer Benedict Stambaugh and Viola K. Fry Stambaugh; his son Elwood "Ray" Stambaugh, Jr.; and his siblings, Elmer Kenneth, Jr., Donald Joe, John, Richard Stambaugh, Virginia Goetz, Carolyn Woods and Nancy Stair.
He is survived by: his children, Sandra Miller (Gary), Debra Stambaugh (Jorge Perez), Randy Stambaugh (Amy) and Kermie Stambaugh (Laura Knots); and his former wife Shirley Cullison. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren.
