He was predeceased by: his parents, John Henry and Fannie Kerns (Martin); his wife Margaret Kerns (Shaffer) of Virginia; and his siblings, Ida Jones, Elaine Johnston, Roy Kerns, Joseph Kerns, Mary Fado and Doris Hitt.
He is survived by: his sons, George B. Kerns (Kathy) of Hagerstown and Gary W. Kerns (Christine) of Gettysburg; his grandsons, Jeffrey T. and Andrew M. Kerns; his siblings, Dorman Kerns of Churchville and Thelma Martin (Paul); and his close friend Ethel Bell of Westminster.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the funeral home to help the family with final expenses.
