He is survived by: his wife Thelma; his children, Tracye Gilbert and Sherman A. Bernett, Jr.; his grandchildren, Sherman A. Bernett, III, John Gilbert and Kayla Bernett; his great grandchild Kaiden Valentine; his sisters, Joan Edwards, Linda Bernett, Janice Bernett and Gail Saunders (Arthur); his sister-in-law Maxine Bernett; and his cousin Lt. Colonel Ronald Crump. He is also survived by his brothers and their friends would gather at his parents.
